Deanna has been practicing nursing for over 20 years and has been a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner since graduating VCU’s Master’s Program in 2000. She has extensive background in surgery, emergency medicine, cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal and endocrine diseases. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator and Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. She has completed a 2-year Fellowship in Integrative Medicine through University of Arizona and is studying Herbal Medicine through Sacred Plant Traditions in Charlottesville, VA. Deanna is a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Botanical Council, the American Herbalist Guild and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
Deanna received the 2011 Advanced Practice Internal Expert Consultant Award for VCU Medical Center and lectures for the VCU School of Nursing, School of Medicine, the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and various local events. She continues to study traditional healing methods as well as current scientific literature for treatments and remedies that can improve healing of all types of disease.
